Expression of Interest

The Federal Government of Nigeria has received a credit from the International

Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of implementing Malaria Control Booster Project. The Kano State Malaria Control Booster Project intends to apply part of the proceeds for Consulting Services for the engagement of Health Institution to support the training of Patent Medicine Vendors (PMVs) in the State.

The objective is to identify registered and non-registered PMVs, train them according to National training guidelines, request for the supply of subsidized drugs on timely basis to reduce out of stock syndrome and to peer-supervise internal monitoring of PMVs.

  1. The Health Institution would with the collaboration of the PMVs Consultant and PMVs Association plan and implement the conduct of training in batches, of the PMVs on the HMM and delivery of malarial control commodities.
  2. It can engage other special cadre of health workers e.g. Doctors, Pharmacists etc in the teaching of some modules that would need the input of such group of health workers.
  3. At the end of each of the training. The institution would prepare a report and submit to the PMVs Consultant which in turn submits to Project Manager.

The Kano State Malaria Control Booster project now invites eligible Associations to indicate their interest in providing services for training and internal monitoring of PMVs Intervention. The Consulting services are to extend over a period of 12 months with possibility of renewal based on performance.

Required Qualifications:

The Institution for this assignment should have the following expertise:

  • Must have been involved in the training of middle and lower      health workers e.g. School of Health Technology or Hygiene.
  • Must have graduated at least 5 sets of students from inception.
  • Must have at least 2 academic staff members, with at least a diploma each in either Community medicine, Health medicine, Health Science, Pharmacology or Sociology.
  • Presence of degree holders or HND in the above mentioned fields would be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in Community mobilization and training would be another added advantage.

Method of Application:

Interested Institutions must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).

Expression of Interest

The Federal Government of Nigeria has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of implementing Malaria Control Booster Project. The Kano State Malaria Control Booster Project intends to apply part of the proceeds for Consulting Services for the engagement of NGO/Firm to support CDI.

The State project is delivering a well-defined package of key malaria maternal and a child health intervention (called the Malaria Plus Package or MPP) which is expected to have a greater impact on morbidity and mortality than a package of disease specific interventions alone could achieve. The prime targets for these interventions are children under 5 yrs and pregnant women.

To ensure an adequate support to State implementing entities and their Community Driven Interventions focal points, the services of a consulting firm/Non-governmental organization (technical assistance) will be required, for community strengthening to deliver the interventions.

The NGOs/Firm is to,

  1. Conduct training for PIU on GDI process, LGA implementation teams on delivery of malaria control and prevention services through the CDI approach, community volunteers on delivery of malaria control and prevention services through the CDI approach.
  2. Conduct advocacy and introductory meetings in the LGAs and communities, educating them on the CDI approach and participate in community mapping.
  3. Ensure timely reporting between communities and health centers, and health centers and LGAs, monitor and facilitate adequate supply of commodities between LGAs and health centers and down to communities to avoid stock-outs Conduct supportive supervision to the LGAs and communities, monitor implementation of intervention; provide reporting to the State PIU.
  4. Identify and involve all key stakeholders in malaria control in the state and assist in the meeting of all stakeholders with potentials for contributing to malaria control.
  5. The Kano State Malaria Control Booster Project now invites eligible Associations to indicate their interest in providing services for training and internal monitoring of PMVs Intervention. The Consulting services are to extend over a period of 12 months with possibility of renewal based on performance.

Required Qualifications:

The Consulting firm/NGO for this assignment should have the following expertise:

  • At least one staff skilled in M&E with 5 years experience in community based intervention.
  • At least one staff member with a minimum of a degree in public health, sociology, social work, community development, nursing or related field.
  • Staff with excellent writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in working in community development.
  • Previous experience in community mobilization and training.
  • Previous experience in implementing CDI, Understand the local cultures of the State.
  • Able to communicate in Hausa will be an added advantage.

  • Must have a functional office in Kano for proper coordination of activities, good knowledge of local language and culture, and must have more than half of its members literate.

Furtherance to our earlier advertisement of 20th July 2010.     The National Hajj Commission  of  Nigeria  (NAHCON) intends to undertake the renovation and rehabilitation  works of all its Hajj Reception Centres across the country, hereby invites all those who have applied for pre-qualification  to  serve as contractors, should collect Bid Documents from the Secretary, Tenders Board of National  Hajj  Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) from 12 noon, Thursday 28th October, 2010, after payment of a non-refundable  fee  of N 100,000.00 (One hundred thousand Naira only).

The Education Trust Fund has given approval-in-principle to the polytechnic for the years 2009 12010 Library Development Projects. Competent and interested suppliers are hereby invited to submit pre-qualification documents for any of the listed procurements upon payment of appropriate fees.
