Invitation for Bids
The Notional Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) is charged with the responsibility of enforcing all environmental laws, guidelines, policies, Standards and regulations in Nigeria. In accordance with Section 7(d), (e), (h) and 8(m) of the NESREA (Establishment) Act, 2007, the Agency is requesting submissions from NESREA accredited consultants for implementation of the following protect;
Compliance Monitoring of Environmental impacts of Artisanal Mining in Anka LGA, Zamfara State
Scope of Work:
The project is to appraise the status of artisanal mining in Anka LGA, Zamfara State and to ensure that Sustainable mining techniques and practices are adopted to reduce the adverse impacts on environment and public health. Specifically the project covers
- Investigate the basic pathways of human lead contamination and poisoning through artisanal mining and ore processing
- In-depth assessment of the level of compliance with previous efforts at adopting safer mining practices;
- Designing an effective strategic approach for organising artisanal miners into cooperatives and advising on how to prevent future epidemic outbreaks
- Training and capacity development in sustainable mining techniques and practices, such as remediation and bioremediation techniques, public health, safe mining and environmental stewardship.
- Extensive public education and creation of awareness on the environment and public health
- Assessment of the general environmental quality to ensure that pollution limits are not exceeded within the mining areas; and
- Preparation and submission of reports in hard and soft copies.
The duration of the project is three (3) months.
- Only NESREA accredited consultants in Environmental Studies need apply.
Submission of Bib:
- Bids shall be in two (2) separate securely sealed and labelled envelopes: “Technical and Financial proposals”. The Technical proposal should include work plan with clearly defined timeline. Both envelopes should be addressed and delivered to:

- Submission must be accompanied with a non-refundable fee of Fifty Thousand (N50, 000.00) Naira only, in bank draft payable in favour of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency.
- iii. All submissions must be received not later than 12:00 noon (Local time) of Friday 14th September, 2012.
- Bids will be opened at the NESREA Headquarters, Abuja, in the presence of all bidders or their representatives at 2:00pm the same day, Friday 14th September, 2012.
